#WCW: Kristi Yamaguchi
Still a household name 22 years after winning the Olympic gold medal in figure skating at the ’92 Albertville Olympics, Kristi Yamaguchi is still killin’ it – and is my ‘Girl Crush Of The Week.’
Not only because of her amazing talent and work ethic (I mean, she won the gold!), I’m also really inspired by how Kristi has taken advantage of the opportunities skating opened up for her; continuing to skate professionally for a while after her win but also utilizing her newly found fame to start her Always Dream Foundation & give back.
She also now has a children’s book out and an awesome active lifestyle clothing brand, Tsu.ya.
My 3 takeaway lessons from Kristi:
1. Always be evolving.
2. “Work” dates with friends or your partner are incredibly motivating, and help with accountability.
3. If you fail, at least you tried.
This chick knows hard work and the payoffs that come with it.
“If people are facing something monumental in their life, I think when that comes upon you and when you face something insurmountable or something that appears to be too much to handle, ask yourself, ‘Do I want to give up on this?’ and keep asking yourself, ‘Do I want to live with regrets?’ It’s about really digging deep. If you keep asking yourself if you really want to give up, and follow through on that, then you will live with no regrets.”
