526I was speaking at a holiday event in LA last week when someone in the audience asked my favorite question of all time: “Yeah, I know I need to get my finances together but…where do I even start??

I hear that question a lot, and I get it. Pulling the trigger on getting your financial you-know-what together can be scary, daunting, downright terrifying. But that’s not a good enough reason to put off your future financial destiny.

So this week, show yourself (and your wallet) some gratitude by getting organized. We’re going to start by pulling those old receipts out of the bottom of your purse (caught ya!), uncrinkling them, and then organizing them into expense categories so you can get your budget together (and so tax time will be a little less headache-inducing when it rolls around).

Next, we’re going to take a quick stock of what money you have coming in (that is, your income — and no, that’s not just your salary!) so you really have a sense of how much you’re making and how much you can spend (not to mention, save).

It’s time to get it together, bitches. You can thank me later!
