Where stocks are traded. It can be a physical place, like the New York Stock Exchange, or a computer system, like the NASDAQ, or any of the many other systems used to trade stocks. Overall, billions of shares of stock are traded every day. Once upon a time, when someone said “the stock market,” she meant the NYSE. But now there are many more exchanges where stocks are traded.
